PEOPLE

Today, Hum is a beautiful house which features a cafe, lounge, dining room and reading room open to the public. Hum regularly hosts events such as swing classes, backyard concerts and the Auckland Photography Festival.

In 2010, Rosy Armitage (Director of Hum) signed an agreement to lease the house on 123 Grafton Road, Auckland for 22 years with the aim of opening a not-for-profit organisation called Hum. Soon after, with help from sponsors and community volunteers, the derelict building was restored to its former glory.

Hum is run by a social enterprise made up of volunteers, artists and musicians. The house is supported by the Falling Apple Charitable Trust. The project is led by passionate volunteers Rosy Armitage and Oskari Miettinen.

Our documentary will reveal the beauty of Hum Salon – a historical home that is forever evolving and lives and breathes the motto “People for People”
